It’s all about vision at 360 Visibility—and we take pains to ensure that our sightlines are broad and inclusive. That means never taking eyes off those goings-on that fall outside the boundaries of our conventional corporate existence.

I’m talking here about all those incalculably fuzzy extras that give a company flesh and blood to wrap its steel and stone. The community we operate in, and the greater environment around that, feels our support in a variety of ways.

For one, we throw our energies behind a range of programs aimed at improving the lives of children, including the Teddy Bear Hugs Starlight-in-a-Box project at North York Hospital, where sick kiddies get respite from their injuries with a teddy-bear-building session. For another, we sponsor the annual golf tournament that funds the Pioneer Camp for Kids, a sprawling Muskoka miracle where youngsters can get a taste of this essential ingredient of childhood.

The company also provided monetary support to the victims of the Italian earthquake in April; and makes grateful use of the Bright Ideas Custom Packaging program, a Community Living York South initiative that encourages businesses to employ the services of intellectually disabled members of the community in tangible, practical tasks.

I just took on a position of board trustee for the Canadian arm of Acid Survivors Trust International (ASTI), a worldwide charitable organization that provides victims of acid violence with essential medical care, while addressing the psychological, emotional and economic consequences of this heinous crime.

We’re conscientious here, too, about the space we take up on this planet, and the way we use it. When we relocate in the next little bit (we’ve outgrown our space again!), it will be into an office whose very design will feature all manner of environmentally sensitive choices, including no-VOC paints on the walls, Canadian-made carpets on the floors and eco-friendly finishing products at all points between.

We also have an extensive recycling program on the premises, and are tireless in our efforts to reduce waste and conserve energy.

At the end of the day, we’re a business, no doubt. We’re engaged energetically and unapologetically in the pursuit of the same corporate goals as every other for-profit company worth its salt. But we ignore at our peril the world around us and the part we have to play in its influence. At 360 Visibility, we take the long view.
