The End Of The Recession?

Posted by admin, Jul. 7, 2009 in Business

navigating business without a mapThose of us in beautiful downtown corporateland are driving around without the benefit of a street map these days.

Against a backdrop of uneven and sometimes devastating economic news, we pilot our vehicles with the same skill and direction as ever, yes, but without the same faith in the smoothness of the asphalt beneath our wheels.

There was a time, not so long ago when we enjoyed a more predictable view from our windshields. We could forecast our sales cycles, anticipate our lows, and spend around our highs. Quarter ends were traditionally blow-out months for sales of our enterprise resource planning software. Summer months, meanwhile, were slow, with folks on vacation and a prevailing reluctance to commit to big decisions under the heat of the sun.

But all bets are off now and the glove compartment’s been ransacked for Perly’s. Unpredictable is the new normal and nobody had better spill a drink in the backseat until we can secure a clearer view of the road.

Still, randomness doesn’t necessarily equate with tragedy. Indeed, for all the doom and gloom that pervades the newsfeeds these days, we seem to be managing this little roadtrip with remarkable precision and speed.

We ended our year with a bang. We closed some great business (press releases heralding same to be released shortly) and have lots more in the works. Anticipated downtime notwithstanding, it appears we are speeding our wagons toward a pretty lucrative summer with an abundance of sales closings slated for a time when our consultants are generally sipping mojitos and dangling from docks

Indeed, we have recently added another roster of top-notch consultants and executive managers to our team to help us handle the next stage of our growth.

Could it be that the end of the recession has arrived, and that people are finally making decisions that see them opening up their wallets? Are our automobiles finally getting new fuel? Could anyone have read this on a roadmap?

Our growth for the 2009 fiscal year end will clock in at the 25% range. Not bad for a period during which we were all ostensibly occupying the slow lane. Will have to remember the path we took here and get it acknowledged by Perly’s.
