Birch Hill Equity Partners is Canada's leading mid-market buyout firm. With $1.7 billion in capital under management, 18 partner companies and 19 fully realized investments since 1994; Birch Hill has emerged as the leader in long-term value creation in the Canadian mid-market.
The Situation
Birch Hill Equity Partners was established by former investment professionals of TD Capital as a stand-alone entity, which then needed to migrate all aspects of its operations out of the parent bank. For all practical purposes, Birch Hill was a start-up in terms of its technology infrastructure. Everything needed to be put in place from the ground up, preferably by a single-source supplier to optimize efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
The Solution
First out of the gate was a Great Plains implementation, an enterprise-wide resource planning solution that formed the backbone of the new entity's accounting and operating platform. This was later teamed up with a Microsoft CRM solution, to effectively manage all key customer touch-points, and Blackberry wireless communications devices, to provide all staff with the anywhere, anytime connectivity needed to manage and grow the business. Ongoing support is also provided by 360, to keep all infrastructures secure and functioning at peak effectiveness.
