As you know, we’ve been spending the last couple of weeks getting you cozy with many of the awesome new features of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013. There are so many to gush about that we’ve had to stick with the biggies, such as the upgraded RoleTailored client and the Web Client interface, which allows anyone, anywhere to access NAV. Now we’re back with another one!
Your business and NAV 2009 are already a match made in heaven, but with the new reporting enhancements, NAV 2013 will make you want to turn it into a life-long commitment by making more people in more places more productive than you ever thought possible.
Two reporting enhancements in particular make NAV 2013 so cool:
NAV 2013 comes with a nifty new Excel Add-In that takes the existing send-to-Excel functionality and raises it to a whole other level. You can make Excel-based reports that use Microsoft Dynamics NAV pages as data sources, and the data in Excel will even be provided in a data region format so you can still make the PivotTables and Excel reports that you’re used to. What’s more, you can refresh the data in your Excel report to reflect updates that are made in Microsoft Dynamics NAV, so everyone in your office will have reports the second they’re done. No more waiting for in-person meetings or waving someone to your desk; it’s all right there, the rich data and powerful analytical capabilities of Excel and NAV you’ve come to expect.
The query functions in the new OData Web services have really stepped up their game. They enable customers and partners alike to take advantage of all the incredible analytical tools in Excel that you use every day, such as PowerPivot, in order to extract complicated data sets and run more advanced analysis scenarios. Naturally, there are some standard queries in NAV 2013, but the partnering of Excel, query, and OData Web services allows you and your partners to build exactly the queries you need to suit the specific reporting and analytical needs of their customers.
NAV 2013 is chock-full of amazing new tools that help make your business a lean, mean, profit-making machine. Not least of these are the new reporting enhancements that marry the killer analytical tools of Excel to the endless data mines of NAV 2013, so that you can keep finding diamonds in all that rough.
