Last week I told you that Microsoft compiled a list of key factor businesses should consider when deciding to implement ERP solutions. We focused on the Cloud and technology innovations. This week we are going to consider the ease of use and cost of an ERP system.

The Benefits

For starters, Jenifer Dorsey, Director ERP Volume Marketing, said in a blog post on Microsoft’s website, that a good ERP solution will be easy for employees to understand and use.

“An intuitive user experience will eliminate extensive training time and costs—and accelerate adoption,” Dorsey said.

Connections

Being able to connect a business from one place is also important. Ensuring that all aspects of operations and all employees are connect through email, calendars and sharing documents through a single sign in allows companies to better manage their operations and eliminate downtime.

Save on Costs

As for cost, the right ERP solution will help businesses manage and avoid unpredictable IT costs such as deployment, maintenance, and upgrading. Dorsey said that an ERP system should offer businesses options with flexible licensing and stable subscription rates.

“If you negotiate carefully, you can ensure that upgrades, software fixes, service packs, and updates will be included in your subscription, giving you even greater cost predictability,” Dorsey said. “Watch out for first-year discounts that lure you in, but then increase in year two and beyond, especially with vendors that control your data.”

Jenifer Dorsey, Director ERP Volume Marketing, said in a blog post on Microsoft’s website, that ERP systems should help companies trim costs in the present and eliminate cost increases in the future, the solution should also ‘uncover growth opportunities’ and invest in the ones that will lead to success.
