Software Company

Moving from on-premise infrastructure to scalable, secure Azure cloud hosting.

Project at a glance

A Toronto-based software company needed to modernize its core application and infrastructure with Azure hosting services. Their platform had historically operated via on-premise servers, which required ongoing hardware investment and limited their ability to scale as their customer base grew.

360 Visibility implemented a Microsoft Azure hosting environment to transition the company’s application infrastructure to the cloud. By provisioning and configuring Azure services according to best practices, we created a secure, scalable environment capable of supporting both their internal operations and the delivery of their software platform.

The new environment enables the organization to host servers, store files, and run their application within Azure. This eliminated their reliance on physical infrastructure while giving their internal team the tools and access needed to manage and expand their cloud environment confidently.

The Challenge

The limits of on-premise infrastructure

As the Toronto-based software company continued to grow, its infrastructure was beginning to show the limitations of an on-premise model. Hosting their application and supporting systems internally meant expanding physical servers whenever capacity increased—an approach that required capital investment, procurement lead times, and ongoing hardware management.

This model also limited flexibility since scaling resources quickly to support development, testing, or production environments was difficult when infrastructure depended on physical equipment. Therefore, the company needed a solution that could grow alongside its software platform without introducing operational bottlenecks.

Storage was another factor. They required a reliable way to store files and application data while ensuring accessibility, security, and performance. Maintaining this within an on-premise environment was becoming increasingly complex as the system expanded.

At the same time, the company wanted to modernize without disrupting its operations or its customers’ experience with the platform. Any transition to the cloud needed to be carefully structured, ensure continuity, and secure a stronger infrastructure foundation for the future.

“Moving to Azure gave us the flexibility we needed without the burden of expanding our physical infrastructure. The 360 Visibility team made the transition seamless and ensured our environment was built correctly from the start. We now have the confidence to continue our cloud journey knowing we have the right foundation in place.”

The Solution

Azure hosting services supported company's infrastructure in the cloud

360 Visibility implemented a Microsoft Azure hosting environment designed to support both the company’s infrastructure and its software application in the cloud. The project began by provisioning Azure services and configuring server environments according to Microsoft best practices to ensure reliability, security, and long-term scalability.

Once the Azure foundation was in place, the company’s server environments and supporting infrastructure were transitioned to the cloud. Their software platform could now run within Azure, supported by flexible compute resources and cloud-based storage that could scale as usage increased.

Our approach focused not only on infrastructure, but on enabling the company’s internal team to continue managing and expanding their cloud environment. After provisioning the Azure services and configuring the environment, we provided the access and guidance needed for their team to confidently operate within the platform and continue migrating additional workloads as needed.

360 Visibility continues to support the environment on an as-needed basis—assisting with areas such as data recovery, networking issues, and connectivity challenges. This ensures the organization has expert support available while maintaining full ownership and control of its infrastructure.

Across many engagements, 360 Visibility helps organizations modernize their systems through Microsoft cloud technologies such as Azure and Dynamics 365 Business Central. While infrastructure transformation looks different for every company, establishing the right cloud foundation is often the first step in enabling scalable software platforms and future innovation

The Results

Successful transition from on-premise infrastructure to Microsoft Azure

1

Cost Reduction:

Eliminated need for ongoing investment in physical server hardware

2

Future-proof:

Scalable infrastructure to support growth and evolving platform demands

3

Improved Security:

Secure cloud-based file storage implemented and Azure environment provisioned according to best practices

4

Ongoing Support:

Internal IT team enabled to manage and expand the environment and ongoing expert support available when needed

“This wasn’t just a hosting project—it was about setting the clients up for long-term scalability. By implementing Azure according to best practices and empowering their internal team, we helped create an infrastructure that supports growth instead of limiting it. That’s where real cloud value begins.”
